New Principals Announced for Four Irving Schools

Irving ISD Superintendent Dr. Dana T. Bedden has announced new school principal appointments for the 2010-2011 school year.

 

Linda Tucker, principal at Pierce Early Childhood School, has been named principal at Good Elementary School. Tucker earned bachelor of science and master of education degrees from Angelo State University and began her teaching career in San Angelo ISD in 2000. She joined Irving ISD as assistant principal at Brown Elementary School in 2004. She was then named principal at Pierce in 2006. Tucker fills the vacancy at Good left by Yanira Oliveras.

 

Frank Ramirez, vice principal at Bowie Elementary School, has been named principal at Pierce. Ramirez earned bachelor of arts and master of education degrees from Texas A&M – Kingsville and began his career as bilingual fifth grade teacher at Good Elementary School in 1999. He then became instructional specialist at Townsell Elementary School in 2003 and moved to Houston Middle School the next year. In 2006, Ramirez became assistant principal at Johnston Elementary School. He moved to Fort Worth ISD as an assistant principal in 2007, but returned to IISD as vice principal at de Zavala Middle School in 2009. Ramirez fills the vacancy left by Linda Tucker with her move to Good.

 

Angie Gaylord, principal at Crockett Middle School, has been named principal of Lady Bird Johnson Middle School. Gaylord earned her bachelor of science degree from University of North Texas and master of arts degree from California State University. She began her teaching career in Dallas ISD in 1996. In 1997 she transferred to Glendale Unified School District in California, burn returned to Dallas ISD as health teacher at Maple Lawn Academy in 1999. She served as assistant principal at Perminter Middle School in Cedar Hill ISD from 2001-2003, then joined IISD as vice principal at Travis Middle School in 2003. Gaylord became principal at Crockett in 2007. Lady Bird Johnson Middle School is the newest school in IISD and will open for the 2011-2012 school year.

 

Raymond Edwards, previously principal at Arnold Middle School in Grand Prairie ISD, has been named principal at Crockett. Edwards earned a bachelor of arts degree from University of North Texas, master of education degree from Texas A&M University – Commerce, and superintendent certification from University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to service as principal at Arnold, he was English teacher at Spruce High School in Dallas ISD and then assistant principal at Reed Middle School in Duncanville ISD. Edwards fills the vacancy left by the reassignment of Angie Gaylord as principal at Lady Bird Johnson.
