Lauretta Johansen and Juan Frausto were announced as 2010-2011 Irving ISD Teachers of the Year during the Board of Trustees meeting August 30.
Johansen is fifth grade gifted and talented teacher at Lee Elementary School , and Frausto is the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) teacher and AVID site manager at de Zavala Middle School. The two teachers were presented plaques and congratulated by the Board of Trustees.
Trustees also noted and recognized Campus Teachers of the Year. High School honorees are: Tracy Womble, CTE teacher at Irving High School; Janice Battles, English teacher at MacArthur High School; Bernard Manale, special education teacher at Nimitz High School; Phillip Hubbard, algebra teacher at Singley Academy; and Terri Buckerfield, CTE teacher at Cardwell Career Preparatory Center.
Middle school honorees are: Meredith Fiaccone, special education teacher at Austin Middle School; Donald Cummings, reading teacher at Bowie Middle School; Pam Lawson, science teacher at Crockett Middle School; Shane Smith, math teacher at Houston Middle School; Kara Noah, science teacher at Lamar Middle School; Lisa Austin, science teacher at Travis Middle School; Freddie Brigham, teacher at Secondary Reassignment Center; and Gerri Godsey , teacher at Wheeler Transition & Development Center.
Elementary school honorees are: Carmen Ponce Rodriguez, bilingual third grade teacher at Barton Elementary School; Kami Hinkle, first grade teacher at Brandenburg Elementary School; Juanita Martinez, bilingual third grade teacher at Britain Elementary School; Jila Zonozy, special education teacher at Brown Elementary School; Camila Douglas, third grade teacher at Davis Elementary School; Carrie Davila, third grade teacher at Elliott Elementary School; Ben Moreno, fourth grade dual language teacher at Farine Elementary School; Susan Sain, first grade teacher at Gilbert Elementary School; Dana Crow, second grade ESL teacher at Good Elementary School; Lisa Porter, fifth grade GT teacher at John Haley Elementary School; Amy Walker, first grade teacher at Thomas Haley Elementary School; Cassie Cox, third grade teacher at Hanes Elementary School; Katie O’Gorman, math intervention teacher at Johnston Elementary School; Florida Jones, first grade teacher at Keyes Elementary School; Jennifer LeGuen, third grade teacher at Lively Elementary School; Karen Lowman, music teacher at Schulze Elementary School; Kay Heldman, fourth grade teacher at Stipes Elementary School; Jaime Fischer , fifth grade GT teacher at Townley Elementary School; Michelle Young, third-fifth grade AMI teacher at Townsell Elementary School; Sharon Graber, prekindergarten teacher at Clifton Early Childhood School; Amber Witcher, prekindergarten teacher at Kinkeade Early Childhood School; and Kim Arrington, prekindergarten teacher at Pierce Early Childhood School.
