MacArthur High School Varsity Treble Choir Receives Historic Invitation to National Choral Directors Convention

In a remarkable achievement for the Irving Independent School District (ISD) Fine Arts program, the MacArthur High School Varsity Treble Choir has been extended a prestigious invitation to perform at the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Convention. The event is scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 2, 2024, at The Buell Theater - Denver Center for the Performing Arts in Denver, Colorado.

This groundbreaking invitation marks the first time in the history of Irving ISD Fine Arts that an organization has been selected to perform for a national association. The MacArthur High School Varsity Treble Choir's selection is a testament to their exceptional talent, hard work, and dedication to their craft.

The Southwestern ACDA Convention is renowned for bringing together professional, collegiate, educational, and international choral conductors who are members of the American Choral Directors Association. The invitation to perform at this esteemed event highlights the MacArthur High School Varsity Treble Choir's exceptional musicianship and artistry.

This recognition also holds special significance for the MacArthur High School and Irving ISD Fine Arts programs. The last time MacArthur High School received a convention invitation for any Fine Arts organization was in 1975 when the MacArthur Choir performed at the Texas Music Educators Convention. Similarly, the last invitation for any Irving ISD high school Fine Arts program was in 1976. The recent invitation solidifies the district's renewed commitment to excellence in Fine Arts education.

Under the accomplished direction of Lauren Davis, the MacArthur HS Varsity Treble Choir has consistently exhibited outstanding performances throughout the years.
