Saginaw Police Respond to Possible Suicide, Arrest Boyfriend on Murder Charges Instead

On July 24, 2023, at approximately 2200 hours, officers from the Saginaw Police Department responded to a distress call at a residence in the 200 block of Lottie Lane. The call reported a female with a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers found 46-year-old Kimberly Knapp lying on a bed with a single gunshot wound to her upper chest. Immediate aid was provided as officers applied direct pressure to the wound until Saginaw Fire and Medstar personnel arrived. Ms. Knapp was swiftly taken to John Peter Smith Hospital via ambulance, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.

32-year-old Rance Ray Magby, the only other occupant of the residence, was identified during the initial investigation. Evidence led investigators to suspect Mr. Magby's involvement in the death of Ms. Knapp. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was obtained, and Mr. Magby was taken into custody without incident.

Rance Magby is now facing a charge of Murder in connection with the death of Kimberly Knapp.

Knapp was a criminal attorney at Kimberly Knapp Law Firm in Fort Worth.  According to sources, Knapp was romanticallly involved with Mr. Magby.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
