Tarrant County Deputy Brent Brown Released from Hospital Amidst Cheers and Applause

In a heartening turn of events, Deputy Brent Brown of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office was discharged from John Peter Smith Hospital earlier today after sustaining serious injuries in the line of duty.

On November 27, 2023, at approximately 3:40 pm, Deputy Brown was shot while on security detail at a Fort Worth Credit Union in east Fort Worth. The incident prompted a swift response from law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on the scene. Deputy Brown was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he received critical medical attention.

Today, Deputy Brown emerged from the hospital to a warm welcome from family and friends, as well as a diverse group of well-wishers. Law enforcement officers from various agencies, JPS medical staff, MedStar, the Fort Worth Fire Department, and representatives from the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office gathered to express their support. Marked Tarrant County Sheriff's Office vehicles, driven by Deputy Brown's colleagues, led the escort.

Amidst cheers and applause, Deputy Brown paused to give a "thumbs up" to the media before leaving. Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn expressed his excitement, stating, "We are so excited that Brent is getting to go home. This is what victory over evil looks like."

Deputy Brown and his family extended heartfelt thanks to the first responders on the scene, including the Fort Worth Police Department, MedStar, the Fort Worth Fire Department, and all those who volunteered to stand watch at his hospital room. The family also expressed gratitude to multiple agencies from around North Texas, the TCLE Association, and the broader community for their overwhelming support.

In a statement from Deputy Brown's family, they conveyed their sincere appreciation, saying, "Please know from our hearts to yours that we sincerely appreciate you all. We believe that God placed you all exactly where you needed to be that day."
