Early this morning, on December 11, 2023, at approximately 6:13 AM, Hood County Dispatch received a call from a concerned citizen reporting suspicious activity at a new construction site near 4th St and N. Oak Lane in Tolar, Texas. The caller expressed concern that individuals were loading, possibly stealing, lumber at the location. According to the caller, the subjects departed in a vehicle towing a trailer.
A Deputy located the vehicle in the 2300 block of Hwy 377 West with lumber loaded onto the trailer. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the occupants fled on foot. Law enforcement managed to apprehend one of the subjects, but the other two individuals escaped into a wooded area south of the location.
Additional support from deputies, K9 units, and Granbury PD was called in to aid in the search. Despite the efforts, the two subjects who fled on foot were not located. Authorities have clarified that these individuals are not considered to be a danger, and as of now, no detailed descriptions of the fugitives are available.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, however it is believed additional building material was taken from the same area / location over the weekend.
