Early morning on Wednesday, January 24th, the Plano Police Department apprehended a group of ATM thieves engaged in a burglary at the 7-Eleven located at Jupiter Rd and Park Blvd in Plano. This group was linked to a prior arrest made by Plano PD several months ago for a series of similar crimes.
At just before 5 am, the ATM thieves arrived at the 7-Eleven parking lot in a stolen truck. They proceeded to attach a steel cable to the ATM inside the store. Their attempt to pull the ATM through the front of the store using the stolen truck was thwarted when Plano detectives and patrol officers surrounded them. Despite attempting to flee, all five suspects were successfully taken into custody.
"This is an example of extraordinary coordinated efforts between patrol officers on the streets and detectives running surveillance in order to catch these serial offenders.", posted Plano PD on its facebook page.
