In the early hours of this morning at approximately 1:00 am, Sansom Park Officers on patrol spotted a vehicle traveling east on Jacksboro Highway. The vehicle was observed failing to maintain its lane and speeding at 75mph in a 45mph zone.
Following protocol, the officers conducted a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, suspicion arose regarding intoxication. Subsequently, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
During transport to the hospital, the individual became verbally abusive towards the officers, utilizing numerous vulgar terms. Upon arrival at the hospital, the situation escalated as the individual became highly combative. The individual spat on one officer multiple times and physically assaulted both officers. Additionally, they attempted to assault others present in the emergency room.
With the assistance of JPS police, a DWI blood draw was conducted. Following the procedures, the individual was transported to the jail for processing.
Mark Goodson was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest Search or Transport, and Two Counts of Assault on a Peace Officer.
One officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation, while the other officer underwent exposure procedures as a precautionary measure.
The Sansom Park Police Department entended gratitude to the JPS Police, JPS Hospital staff, and the White Settlement Police Department for their assistance in handling the situation.
