In a joint effort to combat online sexual exploitation of children, the Irving Police Department participated in the Second Annual Operation Janus led by the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The operation, spanning three weeks, aimed at rescuing women across North Texas who are victims of online sexual exploitation.
During the operation, 47 individuals were arrested, with four of them apprehended by Irving Police Officers. Among those arrested in Irving were 26-year-old Samuel Aguirre on January 25th, 75-year-old Randy Pete Abbott on January 24th, as well as Bryan Larumbe and Robert Raines. Abbott, Larumbe and Raines are charged with Possession of Child Pornography. Aguirre is charged with online solicitation of a minor.
Operation Janus also resulted in the rescue of 13 children from sexual abuse.
In addition to the arrests, investigators seized terabytes of data and electronic devices used during the commission of these crimes. The evidence is being examined forensically and may lead to the investigation of other offenders.
Starting on January 15, 2024, and continuing through February 2, 2024, a total of 37 law enforcement agencies across North Texas brought together highly skilled computer crimes investigators to focus resources on the identification and rescue of children in our communities who fall prey to the darkness of online predators. These investigators partnered together, dedicating their days and nights to seeking out child victims and apprehending abusers trafficking illegal images and videos of children forced into sexual acts.
Operation Janus underscores the collaboration between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in apprehending predators who target women through online platforms. This joint effort has made communities safer today.
The agencies involved in the operation thanked the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and their dedicated team of Analysts for their assistance in working tirelessly to help stop the exploitation of children online.
