Scammer Poses as Grapevine Police Officer, Targets Residents for Money

Reports have emerged of a scammer posing as a Grapevine police officer in an attempt to defraud residents of their money. The impostor, using the name "Officer Kuppler" in some instances, has been contacting individuals and requesting payment over the phone under false pretenses.

While the scammer's identity remains unclear in some cases, victims have reported receiving calls instructing them to dial a local number labeled as a "secure police line." Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and vigilance in response to these fraudulent activities.

"We want to warn our community about this scam," stated a Grapevine Police Department statement. "If you receive a call regarding a warrant or any other police issue, especially if it's unexpected, please be aware that we do not solicit payments over the phone or through gift cards."

Acknowledging that some individuals may fall victim to such schemes, law enforcement officials emphasize the importance of reporting any suspicious activity.

Additionally, authorities advise residents that in cases where they receive messages prompting them to contact the police, they can always verify the legitimacy of the request by calling the Grapevine Police Department's main line at 817-410-3900.
