Dallas Gathers Input to Assess Nighttime Economy Impact

Dallas is taking strides to measure the economic impact of its nighttime economy, as Visit Dallas, 24HourDallas, and the Convention and Event Services’ new Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality division collaborate on a comprehensive survey.

The survey aims to gather insights from consumers, employees, businesses, and entertainers regarding their contributions and experiences within the nighttime economy. Conducted by research firm Tourism Economics, the results will be unveiled during the Responsible Hospitality Institute’s global Sociable City Summit at the Adolphus Hotel from April 18 to 20, 2024.

Nathan Armstrong, the City of Dallas Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality Manager, emphasized the significance of various nighttime activities, such as sports events, dining, bar outings, and live music, in bolstering the nighttime economy. Armstrong stated the intention to establish a baseline to gauge the sector's recovery from the pandemic and to provide support to nighttime businesses and entertainment districts.

Visit Dallas President CEO, Craig Davis, highlighted the importance of a vibrant nighttime economy in enhancing economic development, talent attraction, and cultural tourism. Davis expressed optimism about Dallas' prospects, citing the city's new unified destination brand and investment in the Convention Center district.

Bryan Tony of 24HourDallas emphasized the significance of the Sociable City Summit in showcasing Dallas' nighttime ecosystem, lauding the city's reputation as one of the safest large cities in America and inviting visitors to experience its diverse food, music, and nightlife.

The survey comprises four distinct categories targeting consumers, employees, businesses, and entertainers. Feedback submission deadline is set for March 15, 2024.
