IISD Well Represented at State AcDec

The Academic Decathlon teams from Nimitz High School and MacArthur High School won eighth and twenty-seventh place, respectively, at the state competition in El Paso February 25-26.  The Nimitz team earned its fifteenth consecutive top-10 state finish with a total of 44,500 points. Allison Roderick was the team's top “A” student and the team's top scorer. Jessica Alvarez was the team's top “B” student, and Sophia Chavez was the team's top “C” student.  Roderick won a gold medal in Literature and a bronze medal in Music, and Alvarez won a gold medal in Art and a bronze medal in Social Science.  Maggie Stiggleman and Kevin Chacko posted perfect scores in the Super Quiz Relay. Only 300 points separated fourth and eighth places.  The MacArthur team scored a total of 37,862 points. Natalie Bradford won third place overall in Language Literature.
