A Tarrant County Jury has convicted and sentenced 28-year-old Nathan Woodard of Arlington to 80 years in prison for the murder of his mother, Teresa Dewitt-Pierce.
The incident occurred on February 27, 2022, outside Dewitt-Pierce's Arlington home on Longmeadown Dr in Arlington. Woodard was seen on Ring camera footage attacking his mother in the front yard, repeatedly stabbing her more than 20 times over a 26-minute period before leaving the scene. Dewitt-Pierce's husband discovered her bloody body later that evening.
Woodard's homeless status, drug addiction, and history of harassment towards his mother were revealed during the investigation. Arlington Police Department handled the case, leading to Woodard's arrest and subsequent trial.
Assistant District Attorneys Lucas Allan and John Kleinwachter spearheaded the prosecution, with support from investigator Clint Leach and victim coordinators Carma Anderson and Allison Bowen.
