On Friday, May 3rd, at 2:35 PM, The Colony Police Officers responded to a 911 emergency call regarding a potential shooting on the 4600 block of Jenkins in The Colony. The call had been transferred from another agency. Despite thorough investigation, officers found no evidence of a shooting or any indication that one was imminent.
Further efforts to trace the caller led authorities to the Recreation Center at 5151 N. Colony Blvd. It was discovered that the caller had been transported to this location. Shortly after, another call was received from the same number, this time indicating a potential shooting at Griffin Middle School, which is in close proximity to the Recreation Center.
As a precaution, Griffin Middle School was immediately placed on lockdown. Subsequently, the suspect was apprehended at the Recreation Center. After confirming that the suspect was acting alone, authorities cleared the school to resume normal operations.
The suspect has been arrested and is facing charges of False Alarm or Report, categorized as a State Jail Felony.
The Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the case.
