DFW Airport Prepares for Record Summer Travel

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is gearing up for a record-breaking summer travel season, starting with the busiest Memorial Day weekend since 2019. The airport expects to handle an average of 216,000 passengers each day during the five-day holiday period from Friday, May 26, through Tuesday, May 30. A total of 1.1 million travelers are anticipated over these days, marking a 1.7% increase from the same period in 2019. Friday is projected to be the peak travel day, with approximately 235,000 passengers.

Ken Buchanan, Executive Vice President of Revenue Management and Customer Experience, stated, “With more than 22.3 million passengers expected to pass through DFW Airport this summer season, we are encouraging all our guests to plan ahead in order to have a seamless and enjoyable travel experience.”

To assist travelers, DFW offers various technological conveniences. Passengers can pre-book parking, check security wait times, and order food for pickup or delivery to the gate via their phones. With an anticipated 7% increase in summer travelers compared to 2019, it is recommended that customers arrive at least two hours before their departure.

Parking garages and lots, especially at Terminals C and D, are expected to fill quickly. Travelers can view real-time parking availability on DFW’s website and book spots in advance for the best rates in the Express and Remote lots.

For those flying with American Airlines, DFW provides flexibility with check-in and baggage drop available at any terminal if departure terminal parking is full. Skylink facilitates quick transfers between terminals, and shuttle services are available for Express and Remote parking. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.
