In a verdict announced by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office, Ricky Ensley, aged 58, has been found guilty of Murder. The jury has sentenced him to 99 years in prison.
The incident occurred on July 6, 2021, shortly after 1:00 am at a Racetrac gas station in Arlington. Ensley stabbed Roberto Lopez, a stranger, inside Lopez's vehicle. The investigation revealed that Lopez was stabbed 18 times. Lopez, who would have turned 62 on May 24, 2024, managed to seek help by entering the convenience store before succumbing to his injuries at the hospital.
The Arlington Police Department conducted the investigation, while the prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Hinojosa and Ashlea Deener.
