On Thursday, May 30th, at approximately 1:40 am, Irving Police officers attempted a traffic stop near E State Hwy 114 WB and Spur 482 NB. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed for a short distance before crashing, rendering the vehicle disabled.
During the apprehension of the vehicle’s three occupants, an officer discharged their firearm. One individual, who had an outstanding warrant for Resisting Arrest, Search, and Transportation, was struck by the gunfire. This individual was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for Evading Arrest. The third occupant was questioned at the scene and later released. The officer involved in the incident was not injured.
Following standard procedure, the Irving Police Department is conducting both criminal and administrative investigations. Additionally, the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit is conducting its own separate investigation.
