On June 3, 2024, Fernando Peralta-Berrios, aged 32, was arrested by Officers from the North Richland Hills Police Department in connection with a deadly hit and run incident that occurred on May 16th. The incident resulted in the death of a 16-year-old individual, Luis Anthony Luna of Irving.
On May 16, 2024, at approximately 8:47 PM, the North Richland Hills Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the 8600 block of eastbound Airport Freeway, near the Precinct Line Road exit, before fleeing the scene. Luna was transported to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth where he died. According to family members, Luna had left a concert due to the noise and went missing. His family searched for him for hours until they received the tragic news of the accident on the service road of Highway 121.
After investigations conducted by North Richland Hills Detectives and Traffic Investigators, in collaboration with the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission TRACE Division, arrest warrants were issued for Peralta-Berrios. He faces charges under the Texas Penal Code 49.08 for Intoxication Manslaughter, classified as a Second Degree Felony, and under the Texas Transportation Code 550.021 for Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death, also a Second Degree Felony.
Peralta-Berrios' bonds have been set at $250,000 for each of the charges.
