For the second year, Irving ISD high schools offered an in-school SAT college entrance exam April 13.
Across all high schools, 1,543 junior students registered for the in-school SAT with 1,369 students - more than 80 percent - actually taking the exam. Compared to last year’s school-day SAT, the number tested increased by 176 students. The following table below provides a campus-by-campus breakdown of the number of students involved:

This was the second annual school-day SAT administration in IISD. Last year, Irving ISD was one of two districts in the country to work with the College Board in piloting this concept. According to College Board representatives, school-day SAT administration has been so successful that they are now considering adding a fall date, perhaps as early as fall 2011.
Planning and preparation for the school-day test administration began more than a month ago. Testing was observed by Eric Weisman, regional representative from the College Board, and by Martha Bell from the College Board headquarters in New York City, and was administrated at the school level by Gladys Valchar, Julie Soberanis, Patty Sisco, Meliza Villareal, Eddie Vernon, Paula Barnhouse, and Dr. James Rambo.
