Students Compete at Special Olympics

LIFE skills special education students from Lamar Middle School and Nimitz High School competed at their first Special Olympics Track & Field Meet April 8 at Ron Poe Stadium in McKinney.
 
Assisted by students in the Advancement Via Individual Determination program, students participated in activities including the tennis ball throw, standing long jump, 25 meter walk, 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, and 400 meter dash. Though students’ last names are withheld due to Federal Educational Rights & Privacy Act considerations, complete IISD Special Olympics results can be accessed online at http://www.irvingisd.net/articles/olympics2011.htm.
