Exhibitors are being sought for the annual IISD graduate summer job fair, hosted in partnership with Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and Irving Public Library from 3-6 p.m. May 5 at Lively Pointe Recreation Center in Irving.
In past years, 20-30 companies have had access to more than 300 IISD students and citizens seeking summer employment. Students who attended the job fair last year were surveyed following their attendance. According to survey results, 81 percent said they met with companies they were not previously aware of and 63 percent said they applied for more than one job. With the IISD high school focus on technology skills, workforce readiness and multicultural exposure, IISD graduates will attend the job fair well equipped for any summer employment opportunities available as they prepare to continue their education in the fall.
Companies projecting job opportunities for summer 2011 are encouraged to register to exhibit at the job fair. Exhibit space is free of charge and businesses wanting to reserve space should contact Thelma Cantu, partnerships in education coordinator, at 972-600-5017 or via email to tcantu@irvingisd.net.
