FC Dallas Announces Departure of Head Coach

FC Dallas has made the decision to part ways with head coach Nico Estévez, the club announced today.   The move is not surprising after a terrible start to the season.  FC Dallas sits in 13th place in the Western Conference standings with 14 points.

Assistant coach Peter Luccin will step in as interim manager while the search for a new head coach begins immediately.

Club President Dan Hunt expressed the difficulty of the decision, stating, “It is always a difficult decision to part ways with your head coach. A great deal of thought and deliberation went into this move as it is still early in the season. We believe a coaching change is in the best interest of the club.”

Estévez, who was hired on December 2, 2021, led FC Dallas to two consecutive playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023, as well as to the inaugural Leagues Cup knockout stage last season. However, the team has underperformed with a 3-8-5 record and the club has opted for a change.

Luccin, a familiar face within the club, will take over on an interim basis. Hunt praised Luccin's understanding of the club's culture, stating, “Peter Luccin has been a part of this club at all levels – a player, an Academy coach, and a first-team assistant. He knows our players and understands the culture of our club, and we appreciate his willingness to step up and lead during this transition.”

Details regarding Luccin’s interim coaching staff will be announced at a later date.
