Houston Middle School was selected as one of 20 finalists in the Twelfth Annual Panasonic National School Change (PNSC) Awards process, sponsored by the Panasonic Corporation of North America.
PNSC Awards were created in 1999 to recognize schools that rise from being underperforming to exemplary. It is the only award of its type in the nation, and in the 12 years of the award, more 800 schools have been nominated from 45 states.
Although Houston was not selected as one of the six 2011 awardees, becoming a finalist is a national honor. Panasonic officials plan to recognize Houston and its administrators at the National Awards Ceremony on July 11 at Lincoln Center in New York City. National Principals Leadership Institute, being conducted July 9-16, 2011.
According to a release distributed by Panasonic, the effort that Houston’s staff, students and parents have made is a tribute to the school’s dedication to the well-being and academic success of all students in the school.
