Parker Hillis, senior at Nimitz High School, and Luke Simmons, senior at Irving High School, have been named as National Merit Scholars.
Hillis and Simmons have been awarded college-funded scholarships through the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program. Hillis was offered a scholarship from Auburn University and Simmons was offered a scholarship from University of Dallas.
College-funded scholarships range in size from $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the awarding institution. Ultimately, about 8,300 high school seniors will have been offered undergraduate funding.
