On Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 2:16 a.m., North Richland Hills Police and Fire responded to a major accident on the eastbound 820 toll lanes near the 7100 block. Preliminary investigations indicate that a wrong-way driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when their vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle traveling eastbound.
The 21-year-old female driver of the victim’s vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 45-year-old male suspect, who was driving the wrong way, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, and the identity of the deceased will be released once next of kin is notified.
The North Richland Hills Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
