In the early hours of November 28, 2024, North Richland Hills Police officers responded to a fatal head-on collision in the eastbound toll lanes of the 7100 block of NE Loop 820, just past Holiday Lane.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a wrong-way driver, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, struck a vehicle head-on. The victim, a 21-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect, a 45-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the victim's identity and cause of death after notifying the next of kin.
The North Richland Hills Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Search Unit are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. Potential criminal charges will be determined based on their findings.
