At 1:44 p.m. on December 2, 2024, officers with The Colony Police Department responded to a welfare concern at the Estancia at Morningstar Apartments, located at 6399 Morning Star Drive. The call originated from an employer who had been unable to contact an employee for several days.
Upon arrival, officers determined that exigent circumstances required forced entry into the apartment. Inside, they discovered a deceased male and female, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Preliminary evidence indicates that the male's wound was self-inflicted, suggesting an apparent murder-suicide.
Authorities have stated that there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
