On December 4, 2024, a Prosper Police Officer patrolling the 500 block of Richland Blvd. observed three individuals fleeing on foot from a local business. One of the individuals retrieved an item near a fenced area before all three entered a vehicle and left the parking lot at high speed. Suspecting theft, the officer initiated a traffic stop with assistance from additional officers.
The investigation confirmed that the individuals had stolen a Lego set from the business. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered the stolen Lego set along with a strong odor of marijuana. A probable cause search revealed more stolen retail items, including a computer keyboard, a microphone, gaming controllers, gaming earbuds, and 212 packs of Pokémon cards.
Officers also found drug paraphernalia, 10 grams of THC wax, 3 grams of THC oil, marijuana, and two firearms. One firearm was identified as stolen in a separate vehicle burglary in another city. Additionally, one of the suspects had an active warrant for Driving While Intoxicated.
All three individuals, identified as non-Prosper residents, were arrested and charged as follows:
- Subject 1: Active Warrant, Organized Retail Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2 >=4g < 400g, Theft of a Firearm, Possession of Marijuana < 2 ounces, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
- Subject 2: Organized Retail Theft and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
- Subject 3: Organized Retail Theft.
The case remains under investigation.
