Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot has announced that Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Balido has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve as the judge for Criminal District Court No. 1 in Dallas County. Her term will run through December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.
“We are incredibly happy and excited for Judge Balido as she begins this new chapter in her distinguished career,” said DA Creuzot. “Governor Abbott’s decision to appoint her reflects the exceptional quality of our staff. While her leadership will be missed in our office, the citizens of Dallas County have gained an outstanding judge.”
Balido’s career spans roles as a judge, defense attorney, and prosecutor, offering her a unique perspective on the justice system. As the head of the Dallas County DA’s Office Appellate Section, she brought a broad skill set and expertise to the position.
“To our knowledge, no one has ever led the appellate section with such a unique and multifaceted background,” Creuzot noted. “Her dedication, fairness, and deep understanding of the law have been invaluable.”
The Dallas County DA’s Office extended its congratulations to Judge Balido, expressing confidence in her ability to serve the bench and the citizens of Dallas County with distinction.
