Irving ISD Fourth Grader Wins National Bilingual Award

Irving, Texas. January 23, 2012

The Irving ISD Board of Trustees will be honoring Farine Elementary School fourth grader Hanna Allen with a special recognition at the next board meeting, January 23 at 7:00 p.m.
 
Hanna is the winner of The National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) 41st Annual Nationwide Writing Contest for Bilingual Students.  Hanna is a native English speaker enrolled in the district’s Dual Language Program.  The essay she wrote was in Spanish.
 
In addition to being recognized at the board meeting, Hanna will be awarded a $1000 check that will be presented during the NABE awards luncheon at the organization’s annual conference on February 16, 2012 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
