Rideshare Driver Killed in North Richland Hills Shooting; Passenger Arrested

Kane Roden

The North Richland Hills Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just after midnight on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in the 8000 block of Mickey Street.

At 12:01 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered two men near an SUV parked in the roadway. One man was pronounced deceased at the scene due to an apparent gunshot wound. The deceased has been identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 60-year-old Tahirou Diallo of Hurst.

The second man, identified as 30-year-old Kane Roden, a resident of North Richland Hills, was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested. Investigators recovered a firearm near Roden, who they noted was highly intoxicated.

Through their investigation, detectives determined that Diallo was a rideshare driver and Roden was his passenger. While the motive is still under investigation, preliminary evidence suggests that the two men did not know each other prior to the encounter, and this was an isolated incident. No additional suspects are currently being sought.

Roden has been booked into the Tarrant County Jail on a charge of Murder, along with two outstanding charges from another law enforcement agency: continuous violence against the family and violation of a bond/protective order. His bond has been set at $520,000.

The North Richland Hills Police Department encourages anyone with information about this case to contact them at (817) 281-1000. In case of emergency, the public is reminded to call 9-1-1.
