Dallas Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, May 9, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m. in the 3100 block of Spruce Valley Lane in the Oak Cliff area.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a man was fatally struck by a stray bullet while he was asleep in bed with his wife. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the location, where the victim was pronounced deceased.
Crime scene images showed numerous bullet holes in the exterior wall of the first-floor apartment directly below the victim's second-floor unit. Police reported that no one in the first-floor apartment was injured.
Investigators believe that the intended target of the gunfire was the first-floor apartment, and one of the bullets traveled through the window of the victim's apartment on the second floor.
No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing under case number 065268-2025.
