Anger Room Founder's Killer Sentenced to Decades in Prison in Fort Worth

Nathaniel Mitchell and victim Donna Alexander

A Tarrant County jury on Monday found 41-year-old Nathaniel Mitchell guilty of Murder in the 2018 death of his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old Donna Alexander. Following the verdict, Mitchell was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

The tragic incident occurred on September 21, 2018, when Mitchell forcibly entered Alexander's home. Her two children were present at the time. According to a family member's account, Mitchell arrived in a state of rage and began banging on the front door. Alexander refused to let him in, prompting her terrified children to lock themselves in their rooms. Mitchell then broke through her bedroom window to gain entry.

Once inside, Mitchell subjected Alexander to a brutal physical assault in the bathroom. The savage beating resulted in severe injuries, including brain hemorrhaging, hematomas, and a cranial fracture. Alexander was rushed to Baylor University Medical Center. Hospital staff contacted the Grand Prairie Police Department to initiate an investigation. Alexander succumbed to her injuries three days later after being removed from life support.

During an interview with detectives, Mitchell claimed that Alexander had fallen in the shower. However, the jury ultimately rejected this account.

Donna Alexander was a prominent entrepreneur who gained national recognition for her innovative business, "The Anger Room." Located in Deep Ellum, the establishment provided a unique outlet for individuals to relieve stress in a safe environment without harming others. Notably, Alexander was an outspoken advocate against domestic violence.

The prosecution in the case was led by Sarah Sherman and Chase Payne, with DA Investigator and former Police Officer Victor Espino-Nevarez and Victim Coordinator Clara Salvatierra also playing key roles.

"He has never been sorry about this," ADA Sarah Sherman said. "He's continued to live his life while Donna's children spent another Mother's Day without mom."

"The Anger Room," Alexander's unique business venture, closed its doors following her death.
