Irving, TX – Two Irving ISD seniors, Alizay Escamilla of Singley Collegiate Academy and Angel Siguenza of Irving High School, have been selected as Dell Scholars, one of only 500 students chosen nationwide. Each recipient receives a $20,000 scholarship, a laptop, and funding for books through the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation.
The Dell Scholars program provides more than financial support. Participants gain access to academic advisors, confidential counseling, and discounted legal, financial, and personal services to help them succeed in college. Eligibility requires enrollment in an approved college readiness program, Pell Grant qualification, a minimum 2.4 GPA, and full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university after high school. Applicants must also demonstrate determination, perseverance, and a strong sense of purpose.
Alizay Escamilla has been actively involved in the National Honor Society, Asian Culture Committee, Singley Spirit Crew, and Math League. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Arlington to pursue a degree in nursing. “I am very happy that I was chosen as a Dell Scholar,” Escamilla said. “I’m beyond grateful to the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation for contributing to my future education and helping me pursue my dream career.”
Angel Siguenza, co-captain of the varsity tennis team, is also a member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and the AVID program. He plans to pursue a pre-med bachelor’s degree and eventually attend medical school to become an anesthesiologist. “I’m so honored and grateful for the Dell Scholarship,” Siguenza said. “I feel special that they selected me, and I’m now part of an elite family of scholars.”
Congratulations to both Escamilla and Siguenza on this remarkable achievement.
