Irving ISD's Wellness Institute Recognized for Architectural Design

RVING, Texas—The Magda A. Hernández Institute of Wellness and Professional Learning (MAHI) has been honored in the 2025-2026 Exhibit of School Architecture, a prestigious showcase of innovative school design. The award was presented by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).

Designed by WRA Architects, the facility was specifically recognized in the Transformation category for its forward-thinking approach to learning, wellness, and community engagement.

Superintendent of Schools Magda A. Hernández stated that the recognition reflects the district's dedication to creating spaces that "inspire and support entire communities." The two-story building features a large meeting room with views of the Elise Walker Outdoor Learning Center, a meditation space, and an outdoor patio. It also offers complimentary wellness classes, including yoga, fitness, and financial literacy.

The Exhibit of School Architecture highlights projects that excel in design, value, wellness, community, planning, and transformation. You can find more information about the MAHI facility at IrvingISD.net/MAHI.
