Midlothian Police Department investigators have arrested two more individuals in connection to the October 9, 2023 Robbery/Kidnapping incident that unfolded in the 5000 Block of Vernon Point in Midlothian.
Jeffrey Stayns Fernando, 22, of Plano, and Akash Tyagi, 22, of Frisco, have been taken into custody, facing charges that include two counts each of Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon, two counts each of Aggravated Robbery, and one count each of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity with a Deadly Weapon.
The events unfolded on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 9:48 PM when the Midlothian Police Department received a call from the DeSoto Police Department regarding a kidnapping within Midlothian's jurisdiction. Responding swiftly, Midlothian officers met with their counterparts in DeSoto and the two victims.
Investigation findings indicate that three male suspects forcibly took the victims from their residence at gunpoint to an Airbnb rental house in DeSoto. Subsequently, the suspects tied the victims up and attempted to access their online bank accounts. After being held for several hours, two of the three suspects departed the location. Seizing an opportunity, the victims managed to free themselves and subdue the remaining kidnapper using a knife from the rental house's kitchen. The victims then fled to a nearby residence, where they contacted 911. The remaining suspect fled before DeSoto officers arrived.
Noah Solomon Gulzar was apprehended by the Midlothian Police Department on October 12, 2023, in connection to the incident. During the ongoing investigation, additional information came to light, leading to the identification of the second and third suspects as Fernando and Tyagi. Warrants were executed for their arrest, and both individuals are currently held in the Ellis County Jail.
