Big Lots, the discount retailer, is liquidating its stores and hosting "going out of business" sales at all 908 remaining locations, including its store on W. Airport Freeway in Irving.
The company announced discounts of 25% off all in-store merchandise as it winds down operations. Earlier in 2024, Big Lots closed 580 stores nationwide and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing financial struggles.
An attempted deal to transfer ownership of its stores to private equity firm Nexus Capital Management fell through, leaving the retailer to pursue liquidation while continuing negotiations and exploring alternative options to avoid complete closure.
Big Lots had been one of the U.S. retailers hardest hit in 2024, shuttering hundreds of locations throughout the year. The liquidation sales mark the final chapter for the once-popular consumer goods chain.
