Dallas Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Murder of Father

Defendant: Anthony Sibrian

DALLAS, TX  – Anthony Sibrian, 22, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of his father, which occurred when Sibrian was 17 years old.

According to prosecutors, the shooting followed an argument, with Sibrian shooting his father in the back while he was asleep. In the days afterward, he reportedly used his father’s truck for shopping, including a trip to the Allen outlet mall, and contacted family members while feigning ignorance of his father’s whereabouts. The victim’s body was discovered by a coworker who went to check on him after concerns about his absence.

Sibrian later contacted a neighbor to call police and confessed to a homicide detective, though that confession was later suppressed on appeal. During the trial, the state introduced a jail call in which Sibrian admitted to shooting his father to a family member.

The case was led by DA Amber Moore, with Tommy Adams as second chair and appellate work by ADA Rusty Anderson. Investigators Alex Lipsey and Alex Pinales handled the case, with support from Victim Advocate Melinda Shelton and the Dallas Police Department.

Sibrian had been on bond for over two years while the case was pending appeal, with no violations of his bond conditions.
