A Tarrant County jury has sentenced 33-year-old Rodrigo Derrail Ervin to 25 years in prison after finding him guilty of attempting to escape while under arrest.
On August 30, 2023, Ervin arrived for a scheduled probation appointment, where authorities discovered he had multiple outstanding felony warrants, including one for Continuous Violence Against the Family. He was taken into custody at the facility.
While in the processing room, Ervin attempted to flee by rushing a jailer and trying to exit through an exterior door. However, the doors were locked, and officers quickly regained control, returning him to custody.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Jackson and Emily Nicklas.
