Dallas College has announced the appointment of Dr. Rick W. Smith as the new president of North Lake Campus, effective today. With over 30 years of experience across industries such as media, development, healthcare, and education, Smith brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.
“As the incoming president, my vision is to position North Lake as a dynamic center for academic excellence, workforce readiness, and community engagement,” said Smith. “Just about every industry needs workers.”
Smith will oversee campus culture, local business and community engagement, and work alongside other campus presidents to develop industry partnerships across economic development, workforce training, and education sectors as part of Dallas College’s broader strategy.
“Throughout his career, Dr. Smith has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success, policy development, and community engagement,” said Dallas College Chancellor Justin H. Lonon. The college will host welcome events later this spring for the community to meet Smith and hear his vision.
Before joining Dallas College, Smith served as senior vice president of institutional advancement and administrative projects at Simmons College of Kentucky, where he led fundraising initiatives and established the college’s first foundation.
