Irving is Home to SIX of the Top 56 Small Businesses in the Nation

Irving has claimed six of the prestigious 2009 Blue Ribbon Small Business Awards given out each year by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. For the second consecutive year, no city had more award-winning businesses than Irving-Las Colinas. This year's winners have demonstrated excellence in a variety of award criteria and have served as leaders in the small business community.
 
"The Blue Ribbon Small Business award means more than just looking at the bottom line," said Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber President and CEO. This award is for businesses that are committed to supporting their employees, following best business practices and improving their communities ... It is their dedication to sound business principles that will enable us to rebuild our nation's economy."
 

Irving Blue Ribbon Award Winners  –Big State Drug Store, Car Concepts, Rick's Independent Car Kare, Glory House Catering, Kerri Miene State Farm,Mammen Glass & Mirror and Mart, Inc. – will be honored at America's Small Business Summit 2009, May 11-13, in Washington, D.C. One Blue Ribbon Small Business will be selected from each of seven regions as a finalist for the 2009 America's Small Business of the Year Award. Regional finalists will be announced on March 16.

 

The Blue Ribbon Small Business Award was designed to honor businesses showcasing financial growth, significant investment in staff training and motivation of employees, strong community involvement and customer service, and smart business planning.
