On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Colleyville Police responded to a major accident at the intersection of State Highway 26 and Cheek Sparger Road.
Upon arrival, officers found a black 2010 Volvo sedan and a white 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage with significant damage, both resting off the roadway. Witnesses reported that the Volvo had been traveling northbound on SH-26 at a high rate of speed before colliding with the Mitsubishi in the intersection.
The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, identified as a 62-year-old female from Bedford, was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Volvo, a 35-year-old male from Irving, was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The suspect’s identity will be released following his arraignment in Tarrant County.
The Colleyville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the regional crash team are investigating the incident.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Colleyville Police arrested 35-year-old Jimmie Edwards in connection with a fatal vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 62-year-old Bedford woman.
Investigators determined that Edwards' level of intoxication, along with his admission of recent drug use and unsafe driving, was the primary cause of the crash.
Following medical treatment at a local hospital, Edwards was taken into custody and charged with:
- Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle
- Resist Arrest, Search, or Transport
Additionally, Edwards was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle from another agency.
He is currently being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center with a total bond set at $52,000.
