Irving Police officers arrested 63-year-old James Edward Ambrose on February 26, 2025, following an investigation into the death of 17-year-old Eleanor King Tung Meeks. Ambrose was charged with murder after it was determined he provided the fentanyl that led to Meeks’ fatal overdose.
According to Ambrose's indictment, he manufactured and delivered fentanyl to Meeks on May 7, 2024. Meeks, a student at Coppell High School, was found unresponsive and died on May 9, 2024, at Medical City Dallas. While the Dallas County Medical Examiner initially ruled her death an accident, an investigation by Irving detectives revealed Ambrose’s involvement.
Ambrose was arrested at approximately 1:54 p.m. on February 26th in the parking lot of his business located at 10836 Grissom Lane in Northwest Dallas. A Dallas County Grand Jury indicted Ambrose on March 20, 2025.
