The Bedford Police Department has addressed an incident at Harwood Junior High on Tuesday, March 25, after a video of the altercation circulated on social media.

According to police, just after 8 a.m., the school’s assigned School Resource Officer (SRO) responded to a fight between two students. A school staff member was in the process of separating the students when the officer arrived and "took control of one student".  The video shows a completely different picture.  Two adults are scene in the video while one student is viciously beating up the other student.  The adults allow it to go further than it should have.  One of them could have easily grabbed the student doing the hitting and pull him off the other teen.  As the savage beating continued, one of the adults would not let go of his coffee mug while trying to use his free hand to pull the attacking teen off the one on the floor.  The weak attempt to separate them event allowed one of the teens to stomp on the others' head, knocking him uncuncsious.  The school nurse treated the student for injuries.

The Bedford Police Department has completed its investigation and referred the case to the Tarrant County Juvenile Justice Center. Due to the involvement of juveniles, no further details will be released.

“The Bedford Police Department is thankful for its partnership with H.E.B. ISD, so SROs can be on campus to enforce laws and quickly respond to situations like these,” the department stated.

"To clarify, the phrase “a referral to the Tarrant County Juvenile Center” indicates that juvenile subjects are detained and taken to the Center for judicial processing. Please remember, since the situation involves juveniles there are strict laws prohibiting what can and cannot be shared publicly."
