Irving Animal Services (IAS) has temporarily suspended adoption visits and dog intakes due to an unidentified illness affecting animals at their facility. The suspension will remain in place for the next several days while the department waits for test results after isolating and testing animals showing symptoms.
For public and animal safety, only critically sick or injured dogs will be accepted for intake during this period. Cat intakes and adoption visits will continue as usual.
If a resident of Irving finds a stray pet, they are encouraged to locate the owner.
- Veterinarian offices can scan a stray animal for a microchip.
- Post the pet to the IAS Found Pet page.
- View the list of lost area pets on the IAS Lost My Pet page.
Irving Animal Services will resume regular operations when it is safe to do so. The department appreciates the public's patience during this time and remains focused on ensuring the health and safety of the animals and staff.
