McKinney Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Christmas Day Murder of Pregnant Wife

Nasib Ahsan

Collin County Criminal District Attorney Greg Willis announced today, April 8th, that 35-year-old Nasib Ahsan of McKinney has been sentenced to Life in prison for the brutal strangulation of his pregnant wife, Nawreen Tuli, on Christmas Day 2023.

On December 25, 2023, McKinney Police responded to a 911 call from Ahsan’s family members, who reported that Ahsan had confessed to killing his wife during an argument. Upon arrival at the apartment complex off Collin McKinney Parkway, officers took Ahsan into custody and found Tuli deceased on their bed with clear evidence of manual strangulation. She was several months pregnant.

The investigation revealed a prior incident of escalating domestic violence. Almost two months before the murder, Ahsan had been arrested for Assault on a Pregnant Person – Tuli – at the same residence. Tuli had told officers about Ahsan’s increasingly controlling and violent behavior, including preventing her from driving to work and attempting to force her into the apartment. Neighbors had called police after hearing her screams. Despite Tuli initially not wanting Ahsan arrested, police took him into custody.

Through a plea agreement secured by prosecutors, Ahsan pleaded guilty, avoiding a trial and resulting in a Life sentence formally imposed by Judge Jennifer Edgeworth. The investigation was led by McKinney Police Department Detective Michelle Read and Officer Stephen Ryken. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Dewey Mitchell and Brooke Adams, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Stephanie Strickland.

District Attorney Greg Willis stated, “This was a vicious, premeditated act of domestic violence that stole the life of a young woman and her unborn child. My team fought to hold him fully accountable and ensure he can never harm another woman. This life sentence reflects our resolve to stand with victims, protect the vulnerable, and—when appropriate—deliver justice in the strongest way without putting families through the agony of trial."
