The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced the arrest of Carlos Venegas-Ortiz, a fugitive on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. Ortiz was apprehended on Wednesday, April 9th, in Tarrant County, and a Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for information leading to his capture.
Venegas-Ortiz, 46, a criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico, had been wanted out of Tarrant County since October 2024 for continuous sexual abuse of a young child. He was located and arrested at an apartment complex in Haltom City through the coordinated efforts of DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Special Agents, Haltom City Police Department Officers, and members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force.
DPS noted that Ortiz has a prior arrest history in Tarrant County, including arrests for assault causing bodily injury to a family member and driving while intoxicated, dating back to 2008.
