DFW Airport Retains Top 3 Global Ranking for Passenger Traffic, Achieves Highest Growth Rate Among Top Airports

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) continues to be a global aviation leader, maintaining its position as the world's third-busiest airport for total passenger traffic in 2024, according to Airports Council International (ACI). DFW served over 87.8 million passengers last year, marking a significant 7.4 percent increase from 2023 and a 17 percent rise since 2019. Notably, DFW experienced the highest growth rate among the world's top three busiest airports, which also include Atlanta and Dubai.

DFW also ranked third worldwide in aircraft movements, recording 743,203 operations in 2024, a 7.8% increase from the previous year. This reflects DFW's crucial role as a major hub for both domestic and international air travel.

"DFW continues to experience unprecedented growth as we near serving 90 million passengers annually," said Sean Donohue, DFW’s Chief Executive Officer. "Our continued place among the world’s busiest airports reflects the strength of this region, our airline partners and the intentional investments we have made to operate an efficient and innovative facility for our partners and customers alike."

The airport's consistent passenger growth occurred during a year where DFW received significant recognition for its customer experience. For the third consecutive year, DFW was named a Best Airport in North America by Airports Council International as part of the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. Additionally, DFW recently received the Airport Experience Award for Best Overall Concessions Program by Airport Experience News. These accolades highlight the airport’s strategic investments in its people, partnerships, and infrastructure, all aimed at creating a positive and customer-focused experience.

DFW's ongoing growth is also driven by its commitment to modernizing infrastructure, expanding air service to over 260 destinations (including 73 international), and continuously improving the customer experience. This commitment is now fueling the next phase of the airport's development through DFW Forward, a nearly $9 billion capital investment program designed to transform the airport experience for travelers in the decades to come.

As a major gateway serving more than 260 destinations, DFW continues to be a significant driver of economic growth across the North Texas region.
