Rogelio "Christopher" Guadalupe Gonzalez, 50, was apprehended last week in Cozumel, Mexico, bringing an end to a 13-year flight from justice. Gonzalez had been wanted since 2012 on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child in both Johnson and Tarrant Counties.
The FBI took Gonzalez into custody in the popular tourist destination where he had been working as a scuba instructor.
He is currently being held in the Johnson County Jail. His bond is set at $1,000,000 for the Johnson County charges, $50,000 for the charge out of Tarrant County, and an additional bond for a parole violation.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office addressed any potential misconceptions regarding Gonzalez's citizenship, clarifying that he is an American citizen.
"This arrest demonstrated our office's unwavering commitment to pursuing justice - no matter how long it takes or how far a fugitive may run," stated Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Christy May.
