A 17-year-old male student from Irving High School has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a female teacher, according to the Irving Police Department. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 15th.
Police reported that an altercation erupted, resulting in the student assaulting the teacher. The teacher sustained minor injuries. Officers responded and arrested the student for assault.
In a statement, Irving ISD clarified that the incident was an "isolated altercation between students in the hallway." The district noted that EMS was called to the school as a precaution and to assist staff in separating the students involved. The school was also placed on a temporary "hold," restricting students from entering the hallways. Irving ISD stated it would investigate the incident and "take appropriate disciplinary action as outlined by the Student Code of Conduct and criminal laws."
